Welcoming Dr. Robert Radtke of ERD

Dear Friends,

Scripture is clear that when we care for our fellow human beings, we honor Jesus as well. There are myriad ways to follow Christ’s command to love one another, but Episcopalians have a uniquely effective means to do so: Episcopal Relief and Development.

Based in New York, ERD is the official international relief and development agency of The Episcopal Church. It has been addressing human need since 1940; today it provides disaster relief, promotes sustainable development, and addresses root causes of poverty, hunger, and disease in the US and throughout the world.

One of the things I love about ERD is that wherever need exists, it partners with local Episcopal dioceses, parish churches, and other local ministry partners to bring assistance. These on-the-ground, local networks provide accurate assessment and deliver targeted help.

This Sunday we’re honored to welcome Dr. Robert W. Radtke, President and CEO of ERD, to Bethesda. He’ll preach at all three services. You can learn even more about ERD’s work when he leads our Sunday Forum, 10:10 – 10:45 a.m. in the Guild Room – please don’t miss it! Together, let’s honor Jesus by loving neighbors in our own backyard and throughout the world.
