Are you thinking you're ready to make an international mission trip? Do you have skills, energy and a need to share with others the joy you have been given? Our Little Roses in San Pedro Sula Honduras is a miracle in progress. Diana Frade, wife of Bishop Frade, has established a mission on Honduras where young girls are nurtured, loved, educated and healed. Honduras is the second poorest country in the western hemesphere. The girsl of Our Little Roses come from "abject poverty". The World Health Organization describes abject poverty as living on less than $1 U.S. a day. These people also face a daily struggle without 3 of the 5 basic life sustaining elements that we all too often take for granted: health care, clean water, education, housing, food. Are you ready to put your faith to the test and explore the depths of your compassion? Our Little Roses offers a unique opportunity to encounter girls age 2-18 who have come from a world most of us can not imagine. Through the efforts lead by Diana Frade these girls are transformed into women who will lead Honduras and transform the nation. They are the future of a country that has origins dating back to the ancient Mayan.
A mission trip to Our Little Roses includes a chance to mentour girls and work with them on several levels. If you can swing a hammer or paint brush there is plenty of work to be done. You can read to the younger girls, participate in art or learning activities or even play basketball. Their home is a happy place where they are given love and where the presence of God can be seen every day. Through selfless giving you will receive so much. If you think you are up to the challenge of an internation mission lets talk. Does speaking a foreign language scare you? Are you prepared for the emotions you will experience as you compare your life with those who have much less, but who are still similar to yourself in so many ways? Is your top 10 list for most important things in your life liable to change? Lets talk. This is one of several activities we would like to make this year. Bring your ideas to the Sunday Young Adult Forum and lets talk.
