The Palanca Pantry

Food is purchased weekly from the Daily Food Bank, local produce stands, Costco and Winn Dixie. It costs approximately $300 per week to feed those in need.

The Pantry also receives contributions from local groups and churches, Winn Dixie, Food Lion, Publix, J&J Produce, and donations from St. Marys, St. Joseph's in Boynton Beach, St. David's-in-the-Pines, Wellington; Local scout troops and family parishoners at Holy Redeemer.

The Pantry also receives grants from the Diocese of South East Florida, Bethesda-by-the-Sea and Holy Trinity Episcopal Churches.

Since it's beginning in 1993, The Pantry has experienced continual growth. It serves over 150 families each week - with 80 to 90 attending the Friday community hot meal.

The Pantry has been so successful due, in large part, to hard-working, loyal volunteers. The Pantry expanded 1n 1996 to include a hot meal once per week (Friday at 4:30PM).

St. Joseph's Episcopal Church volunteers to supply food and serve the meals once per month.

A system has been organized to process and record clients who receive meals on Tuesdays.

It would be wonderful if the Palanca Pantry were not needed. Unfortunately, the number of familes in need of assistance increases each month, and the Pantry will continue to provide meals as long as they are needed. God has chosen us to volunteer in this capacity and we are honored to do so.

The Palnaca Pantry is becoming a full-time commitment of love for its many volunteers. They are rapidly growing and welcome additional help in all areas. Please contact Barbara Jackson, Director, at 439-3047 if you feel called to this ministry.
