Bethesda's
Christian Education Offerings

Spring 2001

Dear Parish Friends,
On behalf of the clergy, welcome home!
Perhaps you never left, but for many the summer is a time of going here and there, and it is with the beginning of the Church School year that we reassemble as a parish family. September 12 marks our homecoming to a new year of Christian education for all ages at Bethesda by-the-Sea.

We are united in our joint enterprise to provide sound learning and nurture for our children within this marvelous Christian parish home. Always remember, and give thanks for, the gift we have in each other here. many very talented, very creative and remarkably resourceful parishoners have worked hard and will continue to do so in an effort to offer the blessings of Christianity to our children.

Let me assure you that I am available to you, ready and willing to serve Christ in you. I believe I can safely assert that for many of the energetic and giving lay leaders in the program, as well. One of the best ways we teach what it means to be a servant of Jesus Christ is to model that to those we teach and guide. We are doing a good job of that now and are committed to improvement.

I bid you to recall that while it is our privilege to serve in Church School together, our greatest resource is the head of the Church, Jesus Christ. He has more interest in and affection for your children than you do yourself. Rely on that; use that advantage. He wants you to be his co-worker in our students' formation. This is a powerful assurance which is most encouraging, especially when things look overwhelming.
--The Rev. Jess L. Reeves, Jr.
Associate for Christian Education
